Join us for the annual Evanston Lantern Festival in honor of Asian American Heritage Month and Memorial Day!

The event is inspired by the lantern festivals and traditions found across Asia, South Asia and the Pacific Islands. This event offers community members a chance to come together with others to honor, remember, celebrate, and commemorate through a collective act of floating lanterns on the Lagoon.

Who Can Participate?

Community members of all ages are invited to participate!

How Much Does it Cost?

It’s free to participate but we do accept donations to help support this event!  Lanterns are $10.

How Can You Make a Lantern?

We’ll be making floating lanterns and hanging lanterns

from 5:30-7:30pm at Arrington Lagoon

Lantern Making will end at 7:30pm and we will have a dedication at 7:45pm.  The event ends at 8pm at which time participants may leave or stay until sundown to see their lit lanterns at dusk.

NOTE FOR NEW DATE: If you registered for a lantern for the May 28th date we will have one for you on Friday.  If you cannot attend please cancel your registration.  Any lanterns not claimed by 7pm will be given away on a first come basis.

Please note that this is a free, volunteer-led event and we do our best to accomodate as many participants as possible!  We thank you for your understanding.  We hope you'll  join us in community for the dedication in honor and celebration, and to see some of the lanterns floating on the lagoon.

Thank you again for your interest in this year's event!
