The Visible Voices campaign supports the creation of spaces that amplify Asian American Voices and stories.
Archiving Untold Stories
Asian Americans have lived in North Suburban Cook County since the late 1800's yet there is no archive, documentation, or artifacts to tell their stories. Your donation will support the research and preservation of local Asian American history, including the recording of oral histories and creation of a resource center.
Connecting Communities through Art
The arts are vital to increasing the visibility and representation of Asian Americans. Community-wide events promote cultural awareness and learning, and actively works to dispel harmful stereotypes through hands-on engagement and collective participation.
Social Services
There are few services that center the needs of our Asian American community. We currently host affinity groups and community-based therapeutic arts for youth and adults. Your support will help us to serve as a point of connection for outside social services, mental health, immigration, translation and legal services.
We are currently working to establish a community space in North Suburban Cook County that is dedicated to the research, preservation, celebration and creation of Asian American history, art and culture. This space will serve and support the local Asian American community through cultural arts and social service programming with an emphasis on the diversity of the Asian American diaspora and intersectional identities. It will act as a TEAACH research and education center and serve as a point of connection for outside social services, mental health, immigration, translation and legal services. The space will also serve as a micro-business incubator for Asian owned ventures and provide services that will support economic growth.
